Badacey rules

Badacey is a low-ball draw poker. Badacey is a combination of Badugi poker and A-5 Triple Draw, therefore the game process and user’s possible actions are almost the same. It is a high-low split pot variant in which half the pot goes to the player with the highest Badugi hand – A-2-3-4 – and the remaining half goes to the one with the lowest hand – A-2-3-4-5 (suited or unsuited).

The procedure for Badacey:

  1. Dealing of the cards. The player to the left of the dealer button posts small blind (SB), and next player posts big blind (BB). Each player is dealt five cards face down.
  2. First round of betting. The first round of betting starts with the player to the left of BB, who has the option to fold, call or raise. Action continues clockwise around the table until betting is complete for the round.
  3. First round of drawing. Once the first round of betting is over, players in the hand may discard their cards (all or any) and draw others. Player also has the option to stand pat. The first player to act is the player closest to the left of the button. Replacement cards are dealt before the next player chooses the number of cards to draw.
  4. Second round of betting. Second round of betting starts with player the left of dealer button. In case no player before you makes a bet, you will have the option to check besides calling, raising and folding. Betting proceeds until all players have put in an equal amount of money or folded.
  5. Second round of drawing (see point 3 for details)
  6. Third round of betting (see point 4 for details)
  7. Third round of drawing (see point 3 for details)
  8. Fourth round of betting (see point 4 for details)
  9. Showdown (in case more than one player remains in the game). If at anytime all players but one have folded, the remaining player is automatically awarded the pot. If there is more than one player remaining at the conclusion of the final betting round, the hands of those players are compared and the player with the best badugi hand is awarded half the pot and the player with the best A-5 hand is awarded the other half of the pot.

Important: Two different hands must be evaluated at the same time. First a Badugi hand must be created by using a maximum of four out of the five dealt cards. This hand is used to determine the winner of one half of the Badacey pot.

The other hand that must be evaluated is the A-5 triple draw hand. Players use all 5 cards to determine this hand. The best A-5 triple draw hand would win the other half of the Badacey pot.
