Badeucy rules

Badeucy is a combination of Badugi poker and Deuce to Seven Triple Draw. The pot in this game is split much like high-low split between the best Badugi poker hand and the best 2-7 triple draw hand. The betting structure and overall game play is almost the same as in standard poker game using blinds. A players' hand contains five cards where only 4 cards are used to determine the best Badugi hand and 5 cards are used to determine the triple draw hand. During each of three drawing rounds, players can trade zero to three cards from their hands for new ones from the deck.

The procedure for Badeucy:

  1. Dealing of the cards. The player to the left of the dealer button posts small blind (SB), and next player posts big blind (BB). Each player is dealt five cards face down.
  2. First round of betting. The first round of betting starts with the player to the left of BB, who has the option to fold, call or raise. Action continues clockwise around the table until betting is complete for the round.
  3. First round of drawing. When all players have wagered the same amount of money into the pot or folded, play proceeds to the drawing rounds. Starting with the first player left of the dealer who is still playing the hand, players can then discard up to a maximum of three cards and "draw" an equal number of replacement cards. The discarded cards will no longer be used in play for the remainder of the hand.
  4. Second round of betting. Second round of betting starts with player the left of dealer button. In case no player before you makes a bet, you will have the option to check besides calling, raising and folding. Betting proceeds until all players have put in an equal amount of money or folded.
  5. Second round of drawing (see point 3 for details)
  6. Third round of betting (see point 4 for details)
  7. Third round of drawing (see point 3 for details)
  8. Fourth round of betting (see point 4 for details)
  9. Showdown (in case more than one player remains in the game). If at anytime all players but one have folded, the remaining player is automatically awarded the pot. If there is more than one player remaining at the conclusion of the final betting round, the hands of those players are compared and the player with the best badugi hand is awarded half the pot and the player with the best 2-7 hand is awarded the other half of the pot.

Important: Two different hands must be evaluated at the same time. First a Badugi hand must be created by using a maximum of four out of the five dealt cards. This hand is used to determine the winner of one half of the Badeucy pot.

The other hand that must be evaluated is the 2-7 triple draw hand. Players use all 5 cards to determine this hand. The best 2-7 triple draw hand would win the other half of the Badeucy pot.
